Just updating this so I don't see the same journal entry on my page for another year LOL I am 40 today and apparently that is a milestone or something. When my kids were babies we wrote their milestone events in their baby book. Seeing as I don't have a "book" anymore, I thought I would write it down here :) I will spend the day  at work and then celebrate with family on the weekend. To mark the occasion I will also be doing the Harbour Bridge walk, where you get to don a dorky suit and walk up and over the arch of the Harbour Bridge in Sydney. Will definitely enjoy that experience!

It has been a listless few months for me. Despite the fun of the Steampunk exchange at :icontac-club: I have not been the slightest bit inclined towards anything creative. Having both my external drives act up on me and then both my monitors die certainly hasn't helped either. I am sure this too will pass....

Promoting a friend

The Wacom contest has closed for entries and a friend has a couple of outstanding submissions that I invite you to view and hopefully fave.

:iconjohnkohlepp: is a freehand artist who has a fluid and gentle style; he works both digitally and in traditional media. He is openly shares his creative process and invites feedback on his work, something I find humbling and endearing.

There are many great entries in the contest and wish all the artists good fortune, though you will understand my bias definitely leans me one way. Please take the time to encourage and support the artists who poured their creative soul into the lovely art that has been submitted.

I'm excited!

I am anxiously awaiting the delivery of my shiny new Olympus E-620 camera! Even though I am sure we can't afford such luxury in the aftermath of house extensions, my husband said it can be my Xmas and birthday gift. I am delirious! I have been lusting after a DSLR camera for years and never been able to justify the cost. We have a perfectly adequate 4MP Kodak camera for family photos and a rather nice Sony DVR for movie taking. But the DSLR is purely a toy for me; birds and landscapes and eventually macro. I can hardly believe it! Did I mention it has a twin lens kit too?

FINALLY!!

My camera arrived yesterday, more than two weeks after I ordered it. I am so happy, and completely overwhelmed. This thing is seriously smart. I think it may actually be able to make a souffle, I just have to find the right button for that.

Anyway, once I get the hang of everything, I will sit on my deck and take photos of birds :D

In other news, I finished my 9km fun run, took me 70 minutes, an improvement of 5 minutes over last year. I raised $70 for the Cancer Council, though it is not too late to add to my sponsorship money if you have afew dollars spare. Looking forward to the TAC exchange, working on some plans for the scene I want to use.
